Swimming against some stiff competition, BRSC
could only manage 6th place in the Rother League
Round 1 on Saturday, although only 5 points separated the
bottom 3 teams.
George Smith achieved 1st place in both the Boys Under 11, Backstroke (excellent
turn) and Boys Under 11 Fly, where he just got the touch in a
close race.
Elanor Loveman made a good
start in the Girls Under 13, Breaststroke and lead all the way
to take a deserved 1st place.
Jack Smith also gained a good 1st place,
leading all the way in the Boys Under 13, Fly.
There was another good win
for the girls Under 13 Medley Relay team of Bethany Hirons,
Georgina Highfield, Elanor Loveman (who swam a blistering 3rd
leg to put the team ahead) and Rosemarie Miller.
Harriet Lambourne swam a
strong race to finish an excellent 2nd in the Girls
Open Butterfly while Sophie Trotter was just pipped at the
finish in the Girls Open Breaststroke and notched up a good 2nd
place in the Girls Open 4x1 Medley.
Katie Addison was
particularly unlucky, just losing out on the touch in both the
Under 15 Breaststroke and the Under 15 Backstroke.
In another exciting race
it was 2nd place for the Girls Under 15 4x1 Medley
Relay team of Becky Newman, Katie Addison, Harriet Lambourne
and Rosemarie Miller. Meanwhile the Boys Under13
Freestyle relay team of William Addison, Sam Rowe, Nicholas
Salerno and Jack Smith just missed out on a 1st,
despite clocking the same time as the winners.
Georgina Highfield swam a
solid race to achieve 2nd place in the Girls Under
13 Fly and
to end the
evening on a high, the Squadron team of Abbey Rowe, George
Smith, Georgina Highfield, Jack Smith, Harriet Lambourne, Sam
Webb, Sophie Trotter and Chris Brown turned in a battling
performance to achieve a deserved 2nd place.
Well done to everyone who
